Videos of destruction in Israel
“There is no such thing as a good war, or a bad peace”
It is a very famous quote (although I have forgotten who said it, but you can comment and remind of whom it was of). Whether its Lebanon or Israel both of these lands are suffering from constant bombing and missile attacks.
Since media is concentrated towards Lebanon there is less coverage of destruction of Israel, and some coverage is also blocked by Israel just to keep an edge on psychological front. But no one can deny the destruction being caused in Israel and fear of people regarding announced (through sirens) and unannounced bombardment. There are a collection of videos of destruction caused by Hezbollah’s Katyusha rockets. Watch some of these videos which never reach international media:

Games promote Healthy issues
GameSpot reports:
The University of Maryland School of Medicine is again hosting the Games for Health conference, a two-day gathering that health-care workers and researchers use to look at and discuss the latest health-related game technology. It is part of the Serious Games Initiative, which finds real-world applications to games in fields such as education, training, and health.
I always thought games promoted healthy issues. Games like GTA and Dead Rising clearly shows “Whats NOT good for health”.

Thanks to games like GTA we know what happens when a car runs over pedestrians. By games like Dead Rising we know importance of keeping healthy diet or you could turn into a zombie, which is not very healthy for both you and your neighbors.

X-men maker, makes a video game
Filmmaker Bryan Singer (X-men, The Usual Suspects, Superman Returns) figured out how to make comic book flicks with X-Men, which laid the groundwork for a deluge of countless crappy Hollywood comic adaptations. He made movies which showed that all comic based movies didn’t have to be stupid.
Singer told SpikeTV’s “Gamehead” show that he’s working on a video game for Atari in which players are a secret service agent protecting the president. The game isn’t finished, and Singer didn’t seem keen to talk up the project. But, with that guy’s geek cred, expectations are high—even if he kinda looked at his shoes when the Atari game was mentioned. It can be sure that he will produce something different for games too.

Mayor refuses to mow his lawn
From Netscape News:
Mayor Mike Dixon posted a sign on the fence around his overgrown lawn. “There are more important things in life than tall grass,” it reads. Dixon hasn’t mowed his lawn since last year, and has declined offers from neighbors to cut the grass.
And I though politicians were either brain-dead or those who had a brain but just used it for self-fish means; now this one politician is whom I would like to respect.

Invisibility possible.. at least theoretically!
Invisibility is an optical illusion that the object or person is not there. Harry Potter accomplished it with his magic cloak. H.G. Wells’ Invisible Man swallowed a substance that made him transparent. But Dr Ulf Leonhardt, a theoretical physicist at St Andrews University in Scotland, believes the most plausible example is the Invisible Woman, one of the Marvel Comics superheroes in the “Fantastic Four.”
“She guides light around her using a force field in this cartoon. This is what could be done in practice,” Leonhardt told Reuters in an interview. “That comes closest to what engineers will probably be able to do in the future.”

Prime numbers.. What good are they?
Why are prime numbers important?
Well prime numbers are used extensively in encryption mechanisms used on the internet.
Encryption is used extensively when communicating private information over a public medium, such as the internet. This may be transactions between your home computer and your work network or when connecting to the bank web site to transfer money.

Do you read novels? Well I used to read a lot of them, but since I grew up … there just wasn’t enough time for reading (ok! ok! I admit its this damn internet and video games that took away all the time). I still rejoice over the moments I spent with these novels, Ah! Treasure Island, Kidnapped, Gulliver’s Travel, Great Expectations now those are great literary pieces which every kid/adult should read.
Guardian has compiled a list of 100 greatest novels of all time, it was interesting reading through this non-biased list, to acknowledge greatness of those novels that made in the list and also to note down some of those that I never got to read.
1. Don Quixote 2. Pilgrim’s Progress 3. Robinson Crusoe 4. Gulliver’s Travels 5. Tom Jones 6. Clarissa 7. Tristram Shandy 8. Dangerous Liaisons 9. Emma 10. Frankenstein
So, if you are interested in reading novels or want to start a good reading habit, this list is the place to start.

Israel allows rockets to fall on Israel for PR
Thomas Ricks a reporter for Washington Post says:
I think civilian casualties are also part of the battlefield play for both sides here. One of the things that is going on, according to some U.S. military analysts, is that Israel purposely has left pockets of Hezbollah rockets in Lebanon, because as long as they’re being rocketed, they can continue to have a sort of moral equivalency in their operations in Lebanon.
He got this opinion form US military experts. So, do you really think that Israel is allowing Hezbollah to retain stocks of rockets, just for PR purposes?
