Pong goes physical

August 30, 2006 at 6:47 am (Console, Games, Science)

At the recent German Gaming convention “Leipzig” there was a hall completely devoted to Pong as an Art form. There were many variations of the paddle and ball game from latest Computer games (like Rockstar table tennis) to age old Atari versions, but more interestingly there were physical pongs…PhysicalPong

  • One pong table used magnetic paddles and ball to play the game
  • Another variation used cycle to control the paddle, cycle in one direction move up, cycle in opposite it moves down.
  • One was completely physical using projectors and players ran to control the paddle.

Wii to get cheap GameCube remakes

August 30, 2006 at 6:22 am (Console)

Nintendo’s Shigeru Miyamoto gave a whooper of an interview to Japan’s Nintendo Dream magazine. Miyamoto says:

I’m also thinking I can remake some of my GC games for Wii Of course you can wander into a second hand shop and buy a lot of these games still, so I don’t think we can release these Wiimakes at full price. Since a lot of the development cost has already been accounted for, we’ll be able to release these at a much more affordable price. And if others also take advantage of this and release Wiimakes, there’s a high possibility of a lot of software from third parties also.

This is ofcourse a good thing… because the whole point of Wii is to play with Wii-mote rather than getting one trillion polygons per screen. So, convert as many GC titles as you want, as long as they are cheap they will just add strength to Wii fan base.
