YouOS – The web 2.0 operating system

July 26, 2006 at 10:12 pm (Uncategorized)

Everyone love Web 2.0 sites. As they are more apps than sites, offering radical speeds ( being prime example) and social interactivity (, digg, youtube anyone). Google has released all sorts of Web 2.0 apps that you cannot even count on your finger tips. But what I saw today was far beyond any other site. Its not a site but an Operating system on a website.

It is made by MIT students. It features windows type graphical interface. What it can be termed functionality wise is that it is a combination of different web 2.0 apps in one place. Email, RSS reader, browser (???), notepad etc. There are about 200 apps now ready by users on this site. Whatever you install on your account becomes a part of your OS.

It is a very interesting concept, easy to develop for and maybe what Web 2.0 lacks right now is synergy into collective tools at one place which YouOS aims to provide.
