Pluto – Is it a planet or not?

August 17, 2006 at 4:19 pm (Science)

Pluto was discovered in 1930 but there has been debate within the scientific community about its status for decades, as it is only one four-hundredths of the mass of the earth. So, whether such a small piece of rock should be considered as a planet or asteroid is the question.

In 2003, Xena was discovered which was even larger than Pluto, which intensified the debate. Some 3,000 astronomers and scientists from around the world will meet in Prague this week to decide whether Pluto should still be considered a planet.

Well I think our solar system should be cooler with a planet named Xena : The warrior Princess; rather than with a planet named Pluto: Mickey Mouse’s dog. That’s my logical reason to end the debate right now!
